Mr. Kurlansky was a chief of the Norma Alliance Volunteer Fire Company and a member of the Fire Police Association of Salem County.
He was a member of the Sons of Jacob Synagogue and the Recreation Club, both in Vineland.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and in the Eighth Air Force as a turret gunner.
He was born in Carbondale, Pa.
He is survived by his son, Alan Kurlansky of Philadelphia, Pa.; his daughter, Debra Loeser of Newton, Mass.; a brother, Maurice Kurlansky of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a sister, Bertha Flannery of Albany, N.Y.; and two grandchildren.
