Bernard W. Weakland was born Apr 26, 1910, in Pennsylvania to parents Rudolph F. Weakland (1883-1942) and Mary Best (1890-1962), both born in Pennsylvania.
Bernard was the oldest child in a family of seven children. His brothers and sisters were: Agnes M. Weakland-Yonkoske (1912-1989), George W. Weakland (1914-1979), Clair James Weakland (1916-1996), Ralph G. Weakland (1919-), Betty V. Weakland-Kiernan (1926-), and Harry E. Weakland (-1966).
On February 15, 1934, Bernard married Lucille M. Nagle (1916-1990). Lucille was trhe daughter of Jacob Uriah Nagle (1874-1932) and Barbara Jane McDonald (1881-1943), both born in Pennsylvania.
Bernard and Lucille settled in Cambria County and had seven children: Marie Weakland-Trinkley, Mary Ellen Weakland-Westover, Lucille Weakland-Moskal, Edward Weakland, Bernard Weakland, Jr., Betty Weakland-Rogers, and James Weakland.
The following was in the Patton Union Press Courier: Bernard W. Weakland, 59, Hastings, R. D. Succumbs Feb.1, Hastings R. D. 1, died at home. Born April 26, 1910, in St. Boniface, he was a son of Rudolph and Mary (Best) Weakland.
Surviving are his widow, the former Lucille M. Nagle, whom he married Feb.15,1934, and these children:
Mrs. Betty Rogers, Costa Mesa, Calif.;
James, Hastings;
Mrs. Marie Trinkley, Evans City, Pa.;
Mrs. Mary Ellen Westover, Barnesboro;
Mrs. Lucille Moskal, Barnesboro;
and Edward, Bernard Jr.and grandson, Jerry, all at home;
also 10 other grandchildren.
He was a brother of
Clair, Kent, Ohio;
George, Hooversville;
Agnes Yonkoske, Barnesboro,
and Betty Kiernan, Ohio.
He was a former employee of Lanark Coal Co. and former member of Hastings UMWA. Friends are being received at the late residence. Funeral service will be held at 2 p. m. today (Thursday) at East Ridge. United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert J. Singleton. Interment will take place at the church cemetery.
Arrangements are by James J. Long Funeral Home, Barnesboro.
