Mrs Beard died at 7:45pm Tuesday, September 26, 1989, in West Vue Nursing Home. She was born January 24, 1898 at South Fork, the daughter of James Monroe and Clarise Alice Black Cherry.
She received her education in the schools of South Fork and on June 1, 1918, she was married at Woodward, Oklahoma to Miles Kenton Beard, who preceded her in death in 1953. After their marriage, Mr and Mrs Beard made their home in Mooreland, Oklahoma, where they were in business until 1937, at which time they moved to West Plains, remaining there until 1950 when they went to California. Mrs Beard was an insurance agent in California until her retirement and moved back to West Plains in the 1970's.
Mrs Beard was a Christian and had attended the China Community Church near West Plains.
Survivors include one brother, Albert Cherry and wife Beulah, West Plains; one sister Dollie Martha Roberts, Mooreland, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant daughter, two sisters and two brothers. Memorial contributions may be made to the South Fork Cemetery Fund and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
