Freelove Ives was born in Wallingford, Vermont. She was the second wife of Jesse Hart. He had five children by his first wife, Esther Warner. They were Worthy 1803-1895, Amy 1805-1895, Esther 1807-1895, Patience 1809 and Welcome 1811. Esther died in 1811. Freelove and Jesse married in 1811 and in 1812 moved by covered wagon to Springfield Township, Summit County, Ohio. On the way in Unadilla Forks, New York at the home of relatives, Freelove gave birth to her first child, Louisa (1812-1902). They arrived in Ohio in December and had to build a shelter and clear the land. They also had the following children: Jesse (1813), Pheobe (1816), George (1818-1866), Elizabeth (1821-1864), Amos (1824-1826), Harriet (1826), Sarah (1828) and Benjamin (1832-1912).
