---Herman Jubert Hentis, 82, La Plata, died Sunday afternoon at his home.
---He was born May 17, 1899, in Macon County to Herman John and Ellen Wright Hentis.
---He married Alpha Buck, who died in 1928.
---On May 2, 1945, he married Rose Keithley in Queen City, MO. She survives of the home.
---Other survivors include four daughters, Imagene Koger of Bevier, Rena Stump of La Plata, Valeeta Hellweg of Niota, IL, and Garna Gregory of La Plata; 13 grandchildren; three foster grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Norman Hentis of Santa Clara, CA, and Mark Hentis of Phoenix, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
---He was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, one daughter, one son and one grandson.
---Hentis had lived in Macon County for all of his life. He had worked several years for the Santa Fe Railroad. After he sustained a back injury, he worked several years as a farm hand and had done some carpentry work.
---A service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata. The Rev. Gary and Laura Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Indian Hill Cemetery north of Gifford.
