James Gatrel
James Gatrel, son of Henry and Mary Gatrel,was born in Putnam County,Missouri,October 31,1875 and departed this life on September 30,1951,at the age of 75 yeard 10 months
and 29 days.In 1903 he was united in marriage to Anna Maude Leighton.To this union 5 children were born namely:
Beecher Gatrel and Crystal Gatrel of Powersville,Missouri;
Dudley and Hartley of Indianola,Iowa:and Mrs.Florence Wilson of Newton,Iowa.Mr.Gatrel was a stock buyer,farmer and a lifelong resident of Powersville,Missouri.He is survived by his wife,Anna Maude Gatrel,the above 5 children,11 grandchildren,2 great grandchildren,3 living brothers,Beecher Gatrel of Beloit,Wisc.;John Gatrel of Unionville,Mo.;Will Gatrel of Seymour,Iowa,2 sisters,Mrs. Eva Ogle of Fairview,Mo., and Mrs. Cordie Tucker of Unionville,Mo.The deceased brothers are Julius Gatrel and Amos Gatrel and one sister;Martha Barber.He also leaves to mourn his passing nieces,nephews,other relatives and a host of friends.Funeral services were held at the Comstock Funeral Home 2 p.m. October 2,1951 with the Rev. James Porter officiating.Burial was in the Powerville Cemetery.
Singers were:Comstock brothers,Mrs.Goldie Hatfiel and Mr. Chalmer Ethington,accompanied by Mrs.Comstock.Flower girls:
Miss Carol Lee Milsap and Miss Darlene Buck.Pallbearers:Mr.
Ed Beary,Stewart Halley,Herbert Maring,Robert Collier,Vern Angel and Bill Godfrey.
