Verdie Hardin married Jerry Elbert Jones, 05 August 1922, Cherokee County, NC. They were the parents of ten children. Lyle B., Wenona Lee, Willa Marie, Juanita Ellen (Stillbirth), Hildred Jean, Floyd Walker, James Charles, Harriet Lucille, Virginia (Stillbirth), and Eugene Jones.

Virdie Ellen Jones

Virdie Hardin Jones, 88, of Maryville, Tenn., died Friday, March 13, 1992, in a Blount County Hospital following a period of declining health. She was a native of Cherokee County and was the daughter of the late Charles and Julie Taylor Hardin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Jones and a son, Lyle Jones.

Survivors include four daughters, Wenona Wilburn, Marie Lane and Lucille Hatley, all of Maryville, and Hildred Lunsford of Andrews; three sons, Floyd, J.C. and Eugene all of Maryville; a brother, Willard Hardin and two sisters, Flora Cantrell and Beulah Millsaps. Additional survivors include 25 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 15, 1992, at the McCammon-Ammons Chapel in Maryville, Tenn. Burial was held Monday, March 16, 1992, at Grandview Cemetery. Rev. Tommy Hatley and Rev. Harrison Hill officiated.
