Funeral services for Elbert I. Adams, 79, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at the First Baptist Church in Memphis.
Rev. Gene Jorgenson, pastor, will officiate at the services. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery under Spicer Funeral Home arrangements.
Mr. Adams died Tuesday evening in Golden Spread Rest Home in Amarillo where he had been a patient for only a short time. A retired farmer, Mr. Adams had lived in Hall County since 1892. He farmed in the Estelline community for many years, moving to Memphis after he retired a few years ago.
Born March 19, 1886, in Tarrant County, Mr. Adams was united in marriage to Sarah Jane Hood Feb. 5, 1910, in Estelline. Mrs. Adams preceded her husband in death on May 7, 1967.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Dunn of Amarillo; four sons, L.H. of Dumas, Elbert A. of Memphis, Leland (Jack) of Tyler, Warren G. of Vega, and 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Lola E. Hays of Kinsman, Ariz.
Pall bearers will be Bob Ayers, Boyce Bruce, Orval Phillips, J.M. Ferrel, Jr., A. Womack and Wendell Harrison.
