Harry Q. Toms Sr. was born in Foxville a son of Charles A. and Bessie Toms of Foxville and was the husband of Ruth S. Elam Toms of Cascade who survives him.
Harry entered the US Army in 1935 and served during Word War II in the European Theater and served later in the Korean Conflict, where he was awarded a Bronze Star and was stationed at Fort Richie for six years, after leaving the service he was employed at the GAF Plant at Blue Ridge Summit, Pa.
Harry was a member of the United Methodist Church of Spartansburg, S.C. and the Cascade American Legion.
In addition to his wife he is survived by eight daughters, Harriette DeRigo, Dorothy Warrenfeltz and Deborah Harbaugh all of Waynesboro, Pa.; Katie Curry and Sharon Toms, both of Cascade; Patricia Era, Hamburg, Pa. and Shelia Harbaugh, Rouzerville, Pa., three sons, Harry Q. Toms Jr., Charlottesville, Va.; James Toms, Fairfield. Pa. and Marshall Toms, Silver City, N.M., 15 grandchildre and three great-grandchildren.
Harry is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Simmons, Frederick and Olive Hoffman, Hagerstown.
Graveside services were held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
