Graveside services for Icle A. "Muffie" Brune, 96, Lawrence, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Brune died Monday, July 15, 1996, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.

She was born Sept. 11, 1899, in Lucas County, Iowa, the daughter of Millard and Dora Crumpston Musselman.

Mrs. Brune graduated from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She taught in Chariton, Iowa, from 1920 to 1922. In 1923, she moved to Lawrence, where she taught at New York School in 1923 and 1924. She enrolled in a nurse's aide training course at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in 1945 and volunteered 150 hours a month at the hospital. She later assisted her husband at Brune Plumbing and Electric Co.

She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and helped establish the Lawrence Garden Club. She was a member of the Monday Sewing Club and a member and past matron of Adah Chapter No. 7, O.E.S., the Fidelity Shrine of Jerusalem and the Rebekkah Lodge, Friendship Chapter. She belonged to the National, Kansas and Douglas County Retired Teachers associations. She was a Rotary-Ann, a member and adviser of the Delta Gamma sorority and executive secretary of the alumni of Panhellenic Council from 1941 to 1945.

She married Eugene W. Brune on June 11, 1925. He died Oct. 25, 1972. Survivors include nieces and nephews.
