A native of Clinton County, Mr. Stewart had resided in Sheridan for 28 years and was a retired farmer. He was born July 28, 1897 to Marion and Ada Hughes Stewart.
His wife, Mary Elizabeth Wilson Stewart, survives along with one son, L. Eugene Stewart of Indianapolis; two daughters, Mrs. Delbert(Mary Lee) Jones, Quincy, Ind., and Mrs. Kenneth (Margaret Ann) Stewart, Lafayette; two brothers, Ross Stewart, Bloomingdale and Walter Stewart, Noblesville; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mr. Stewart was a member of Bakers Corner Wesleyan Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War I.
