Many hearts were saddened when the news came, and many were the tears of sorrow shed by friends of Floyd Harris and of the heart broken parents.

Floyd had gone to Dallas to study telegraph only a few days before his death and had been in school hardly two days when he was found in his room in an unconscious state from which he never revived. His father went to his bed side immediately upon hearing of his illness and was with him to the end. His body was brought to Seymour by his father and in the city cemetery was laid to rest. The attendance of the funeral was large.

Floyd was converted and joined the Methodist Church in January 1884 at Seymour. Those who knew him best said he lived a consistent Christian life. He was pure, generous, affable, industrious and ambitious. Floyd loved his associates and was loved by them in turn.

Services were officiated at the home by C.L. Browning, pastor.

Survived by his parents; brothers and sisters
