James V. Lanza June 2, 2005

James V. Lanza, 86, of Fayetteville, passed away Thursday at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Lanza was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Chapter 30 of the Disabled American Veterans. He was employed by the Herald Journal for many years, before retiring in 1973. He was a member and past president of Our Lady of Pompei Holy Name Society, and was an avid bowler and golfer. He had also been a former secretary of the Holy Name Bowling League and the Pat Bombard Bowling Classic. He was also a member of the Arrowhead Golf Club. His wife Genevieve (Anthony) Lanza died in 1998.

He is survived by two sons, Joseph J. Lanza of East Syracuse and Jamie S. Lanza of Fayetteville; a daughter, Jennifer (Bruce) Yancey of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Amy Bilson, Molly Lanza, Carly Anzalone, Carson and Caden Yancey; three brothers, Sam (Grace) Lanza of East Syracuse, Frank (Ernie) Lanza of Syracuse, Anthony Lanza of Syracuse; a sister, Mary Camino of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Monday in the Pirro & Sons Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Fayetteville. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 514 Turtle St., Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. The Holy Name Society will recite its Ritual at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
