---Dr. Alexander Taylor son of Elisha and Sarah Taylor, was born in Ohio August 20, 1823 died May 31st 1893, aged 69 years 9 months and 11 days.
---He was married to Harriet A. Shirvers August 9, 1847, who died July 21st 1886 at this place.
---Of this union 12 children were born, five of whom died in childbirth, and one daughter who died six years ago, the mother of three children. Six daughters survive him, Mrs. Harringtoff of California, Mrs. Graham, Mrs. Brush and Mrs. Gregg of Nebraska, and Mrs. Willard and Mrs. Rice of Kansas.
---Dr. Taylor came to Kansas eight years ago last October. He was married to Lucetta Wilmarth November 29th 1888. Mrs. Taylor had four children by her first marriage all of whom are living and were present.
---Dr. Taylor has been a devout christian for more than fifty years. He was a member of the M. E. church in Colby at the time of his death. He was consious that the end was near and requested that the hymn, "Sweet By and By", might be sung at his funeral. The services were conducted by the writer at the Dr's residence nine miles north of Colby. A large concourse of people were present to pay their last tribute of respect to the dead.
---The remains were interred in the Colby Cemetery.
