Ivan's obit appeared in The Dispatch, Moline, Illinois, 27 Dec 2004. According to his obit, Ivan died at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.

Ivan was the son of Arthur Shannon and Mary West. He married Emma Madelyn Deppe on 15 Mar 1942 in Viola, Illinois. Madelyn and Ivan had the following children: Theresa, Curtis, Dennis, Darrel, and Marvin.

As noted in his obit, "Ivan farmed for 18 years near Woodhull. He then worked as a carpenter and concrete man for the former R & H Johnson Builder Supply Company in Alpha, retiring in 1980."

Madelyn preceded Ivan dying April 19, 1993. Also preceding Ivan in death were his parents, five sisters, five brothers, and one great-granddaughter.

Surviving are all of his children, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Services were at the Alpha Baptist Church, where Ivan was a member, with the Rev. Andy Busch officiating. Burial was in the Alpha cemetery.
