Funeral services for Mrs. Shafe (Myrtle) Weaver, 79, of Gatesville were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Plez Todd officiated, and burial was in Restland Cemetery with Scott's in charge.
Mrs. Weaver, a lifelong resident of Coryell County, died April 21 in a local rest home where she had been a patient the last seven years.
A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Grant, she was born in the Pancake community Dec. 15, 1896, and was reared there.
She was married to Shafe Weaver and they made their home at Ames, where Mr. Weaver was postmaster and where the couple owned and operated a grocery store. Mr. Weaver died in 1956.
Mrs. Weaver had lived in Gatesville about 17 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Donald M, Weaver of Orono, Maine, James H. Weaver of Xenia, Ohio, and Major Jerry Weaver of Germany; one brother, Charlie Grant of Sacramento, Calif.; ten sisters, Mrs. Nettie Wilson, Mrs. Bessie Hamilton, Mrs. Nona Lee, Mrs. Gladys Rain, Mrs. Effie Roe and Mrs. Wilma Balch, all of Fort Worth, Mrs. Albert Sellers of Jonesboro,
Mrs. H. B. Mayhew of Turnersville, Mrs. Ted Lilljedahl of Houston and Mrs. Bertha Grimland of Amarillo;
11 grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Weaver's funeral were Jim Weaver, Wayne Pruitt, Mono Pruitt Jr., Jimmy Nelson Weaver, Grady Carson and Jack Weaver.
