Birth: Jul. 22, 1861
Broughton
Hamilton County
Illinois, USA
Death: Jul. 18, 1916
Crockett
Houston County
Texas, USA

Born in Rectorville - town changed name to Broughton in 1873 after John's father Edward cheaply arranged for town to move to his land a few miles north to intersect with rail line for commercial success.

John married Johnnie Augusta Gause 11 May 1889 in Crockett per letters between the two.

John was murdered by tennants per several trial articles in Crockett Courier in Crockett Library on microfilm. Somehow they forgot a death certificate and obituary in all the uproar over the crime.

When those we love have left this earth, we still can feel them near. We'll see a picture, hear a song, and it's just like they are here. And when we call upon our faith, when we believe and trust, we know the ones we care about are always close to us.
