Son of Raymond & Pauline Beatty.
He graduated from Sutherland High School in 1942 and served in the Navy in the Pacific from 1942 to 1945. On May 29, 1943 he married BettyJones in Urbana, Illinois . They had one son, Kenneth.
He worked for the Postal Service for 25 years and was associated with Griffin-Beatty Lumber Company from 1965 until his retirement in 1986. Hewas active in real estate development and built many homes in Sutherland from 1977-1986.
As a lifetime member of the Sutherland Presbyterian Church he served as an elder, trustee and deacon. He was an active member of the Village Board and served as chairman, the Sutherland Hospital Board and the Lincoln County Planning Commission. He was one of the original members of the Board of Directors of the Sutherland Reservoir Park (1954) where he served as Secretary for 40 years. He was a 10 year member of the Sutherland Fire Department and an active member of the American Legion where he was historian and volunteer on detail duty. He coached youth baseball for 10 years and was a Boys Scout scoutmaster. He was always very supportive ofSutherland activities and athletics.
Survivors include a son Kenneth (Margene) of Sutherland, two grandchildren, Ryan (Missy) of Kansas City, MO and Kendra (Dave) Schneiderof Omaha, NE.; four great grandchildren, Rylin and Kennan of Kansas City,Mo. and Lauren and Macy of Omaha, NE.; a brother Harold of Las Vegas, a sister Helen (Gene) McConnell of Pueblo, CO. and a close family friend,Bill Fulcher of Sutherland. Preceding him in death were his wife Betty, asister Thelma, a brother Merle; his parents and grandparents whohomesteaded South of Sutherland in 1894.
