Lucy Whipple (Bridgman) Merrill, 95, of 215 South St., a 34-year secretary at the Congregational House, Boston, died Monday in the Lathrop Home.
She also worked for 12 years in the office of the City Missionary Society, and 22 years in the office of the Congregational Pastoral Supply Board. She retired in 1956.
Born in Westhampton, she attended local schools. She was graduated from the former Northfield Seminary in 1914 and the Gordon Bible College of Boston in 1920.
She moved to the Lathrop Home in 1980.
She was a member of First Church of Christ, the Cooley Dickinson Hospital Women's Auxiliary, the Northampton Women's Club, the former Westhampton Indian Summer Club, the Lathrop Home board of directors, and the Northfield Alumni Association.
She was also a past president of the Dorcas Society.
Her husband, Dr. Charles Clarkson Merrill, a nationally-prominent Christian minister and leader in the movement to unite Protestant denominations, died in 1961.
She leaves five nieces and nephews, including Spencer C. Bridgman of Florence and David K. Bridgman of Westhampton.
A memorial service will be conducted Monday afternoon at the Lathrop Home, with burial in Center Cemetery, Westhampton, at the convenience of the family.
