Ardis Eudene Canning, youngest daughter of Frank Eugene and Mary Elizabeth Reed Canfield, was born June 26, 1901, in Rose Creek Township of Republic County, and died December 10, 1987, at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, at the age of 86 years, five months and 14 days.
She attended the Lowland Rural School.
She was united in marriage to Claude Edwin Canning on February 14, 1924, and to this union three children were born. They lived on a farm near Munden until 1964, moving to Belleville where they lived 22 years. Due to failing health they moved to Superior in 1986 to be near their daughter. In October they became residents of Belleville Health Care Center.
She attended Rose Creek Chapel and Chester Church of Christ until moving to Belleville, when she became a member of Central Christian Church. She was a member of the church quilting club and circle groups.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Arlo (Betty) Doehring of Superior; two sons, Virgil of Seward, Nebr., Lynn of Overland Park, Kans.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held December 12 at the Central Christian Church of Belleville, conducted by minister, David Haggard. Interment was in Chester Cemetery.
