Roy Alfred Canfield, son of Frank Eugene and Mary Elizabeth Canfield, was born in Republic Co., Kansas, Oct. 13, 1891, and passed from this life on Jan. 3, 1975. He had reached the age of 83 years, 2 months and 22 days.
As a young man he received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord of his life.
On May 18, 1918 he was united in marriage with Lois M.D. Williams at Belleville, Kans. To this union three children were sent to bless their home.
Preceding him in death were his father and mother, three brothers, four sisters and two grandchildren.
Survivors are his wife, Lois; his sons, Richard of Manheim, Pa., and Donald of Munden, Ks.; his daughter, Doris Davenport of Central City; a foster son, Oscar Verley of Redlands, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Hunt and Mrs. Claude Canning, both of Belleville, Ks.; along with 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and a great host of friends.
Memorial services were held at the Church of Christ in Chester with Don E. Collison, Amos Rundus and Richard Canfield officiating. Singers were Mrs. Richard Canfield and Mrs. Wilbert Crouse, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. John Crouse.
Pallbearers were Wilbert Crouse, John Crouse, Ron Canfield, Rich Musgrave, Les Canfield and Laurin Drent.
Interment was in the Chester Cemetery, Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
