John worked as a laborer at a dairy farm in St. Louis County, Missouri and later in St. Clair County, Illinois. The Claussens then moved back to St. Louis in the 1920's.
John and Olga's daughter, Elizabeth, was married to Heinz Stadelmann; and daughter, Marie, was married to William Heyer.
At the time of his death due to a pulmonary embolism at St. Louis County Hospital, John was 86 years, 8 months and 20 days old. He was buried on 22 Aug 1959 and was survived by his wife, Olga, who passed away in 1965.
Children: 4 daughters, 2 sons.
