Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Dawson & Wikoff Colonial Chapel North.
There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery.
Mr. Ater was born near Cerro Gordo in Macon County on May 29, 1905, son of Byron S. and Mary Frances Gossett Ater. He was a retired farmer. He married Opal Hudelson on April 17, 1932.
His parents, one son, Billy Ater, five brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
