A native of Warren, Ark., he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, retired welder, a retired salesman from Bible Books and a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter; two sons; four stepdaughters; five stepsons; one sister; two brothers; 28 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Meeks was preceded in death by one daughter, Velma Dee Allen; his mother, Inez Upshaw Meeks; and two brothers. His father and stepmother were Jessie Newton Meeks Sr. and Myra Marie Meeks.
