A special train broke records between Brighton and Denver Thursday to enable Hugh C. Norvell, of Denver, Union Pacific fireman, who had been injured to see his wife before he died.

The train made the twenty miles in seventeen minutes. Norvell fell from the tender of his engine at Brighton. Realizing his injuries would prove fatal, Norvell asked that he be permitted to see his wife. The special train was hastily made up. Norvell died at a hospital here shortly after his wife had visited him.

Melody Minton Norvell Withrow was pregnant with my mother Hughlene Norvell Wilkinson when her father Hugh Calvin Norvell was killed in the railroad accident as described my Michael in the previous commentary. To add, after Hugh was brought to the hospital in Denver he bled to death and died in my grandmother Melody's arms. He was only 24 years old at the time of his death.

Hugh was the son of Rudolphus Erving Norvell and Viola Clarise Hughes.
