Columbia, the son of Joseph William Harrison I and Bathsheba Jane (Oglesby) was one of the earliest settlers in Adams County coming here with his father-in-law Jeremiah Michael Roe II about 1830. As a young man, Columbia worked on President (then General) William Henry Harrison's Millbrook farm. According to several of his children he was a second cousin to the President. A very simple, hardworking man, he was known for his honesty and virtue.
