Mrs. Loretta A. Elpers, 86, of 507 Second St., LaPorte, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at 4 p.m. at her home.
She was born Dec. 13, 1917, in Poseyville, Ind., to William and Mary (Titzer) Paul, and had lived in LaPorte since 1960, coming from Cynthiana, Ind.
Mrs. Elpers was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, LaPorte, St. Martha Circle and St. Joseph Altar and Rosary Society. She was a volunteer at St. Joseph Curiosity Shop, LaPorte, and also a promoter for the Miraculous Medal Association.
On Aug. 17, 1939, in St. Wendel, Ind., she married Francis J. Elpers, who died July 29, 1997.
Also preceding her in death were one great-grandson and two brothers, Wilfred and William Paul.
Surviving are one daughter Marilyn A. Poag of LaPorte; three sons, Francis P. and David (Marilyn) of Haubstadt, Ind., and Dennis W. (Dee) of LaPorte; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann Eickhoff of St. Wendel, and Betty Helfert of Poseyville; and three brothers, Anthony G. Paul of Cynthiana, John H. Paul of St. Wendel, and James M. Paul of Poseyville.
A funeral Mass will be Saturday at noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Ted Nordquist officiating. Friends may call at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte today from 4 to 8 p.m., with a wake service at 7 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, LaPorte.
