The Routier's came to the US about 1856 from Marne France. Rosa was about eight years old. The Routier's were finish carpenters and earned a reputation for competence and dependability in their trade. Peter Routier was Proprietor of Capitol City Planing Mill with (his son) Edmund Routier at 452 Virgina as well as brother Anatole Routier. They are in the city directory several times as well as mentioned in city documents.
Marie Routier was wife of Jean-Etienne "John E." Routier. Their two sons are Anatole and Peter and their daughter is Rosa Angeline Routier. Their infant daughter Marie Virginia Routier 1850 – 1851 died in France prior to their immigation to the U.S.
Attempts to locate the graves of John and Marie Routier at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN are unsuccessful. Grave pictures of sons Peter and John and their wives are available.
