| Birth: | unknown | | Death: | Sep. 30, 1995 |  Musician. Born in Manhattan, New York, in 1930, he was a Sergeant in the New York City Police Department. In 1960, Sergeant Devine began leading the New York City Police Department's Emerald Society Pipes and Drums. As drum major, his kilted Irish bagpipers played at numerous funerals, dinners, concerts and in the St. Patrick's Day Parade for 35 consecutive years. They also performed for Pope John Paul II during his 1979, visit to New York. He died in the Midwood section of Brooklyn, after a long illness. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
