Renowned Author. He was a descendent of prominent early New England settlers. His most famous work was "The Scarlet Letter," published in 1850. His other novels were, "Fanshawe," "The House of the Seven Gables," "The Blithedale Romance," and "The Marble Faun." His short stories were, "Twice-Told Tales," "Mosses From An Old Manse," and "Tanglewood Tales." (bio by: Donna Di Giacomo)
