An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Friday, 3-1-1957:
Orin William Beverly, 76, retired farmer and rancher who had lived in Coryell County all his life, died Friday morning in the local hospital.
He was a member of a prominent pioneer Copperas Cove family, and had lived in Gatesville the last 15 years. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Scott's Chapel, Rev. LeRoy Brown officiating. Burial was in the Restland Cemetery, and Masonic rites were held at the graveside.
Pallbearers were Morris Bell, C. D. Boyer, Allen Denny, Elmer Watts, Bill Graham and V. R. Lee.
Mr. Beverly was born near Copperas Cove. His parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Beverly, were early-day settlers in that region.
A Methodist and a Mason, he was married to Miss Sarah Ellen Carroll July 4, 1903. They made their home near Copperas Cove until Fort Hood was established in 1942. It was then they moved to Gatesville.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Beverly is survived by two sons, C. A. Beverly of Gatesville and Roy 0. Beverly of San Angelo; three daughters, Mrs. C. A. Boyer of San Angelo, Mrs. Lorena Baker of Austin and Mrs. Paul Pressler of Austin; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. J. L. Bland of Killeen; and one brother J. A. Beverly of Dublin.
