---Mrs. Herman Baldwin of LaCrosse, Missouri, received word of her father's death in Eugene, Oregon.
---James Elmer "Barney" Sears was born February 24, 1874 near New Cambria and spent most of his life in Macon County, near and in, the Elmer community. In January, 1936, he moved to Oregon where he died April 11, 1950 at the age of seventy-six years, one month and eighteen days.
---He was married to Francis Susan Meeks September 28, 1893 who preceded him in death May 31, 1934. To this union no children were born but in August, 1922 they adopted a daughter, Mary Iona Sears, to whom they were very kind and loyally loving her as though she were their own child.
---Death was attributed to an asthamatic heart condition, causing him to pass away while asleep.
---He is survived by his adopted daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Baldwin and three granddaughters, Toby, Glenna and Esta Baldwin, all of LaCrosse, Missouri and a half-sister, Mrs. Clarence Swarthout of La Plata and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
---Funeral services were held at the Mills Funeral Home. Interment was in the Cottage Grove cemetery near Eugene, Oregon.
