Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church for Daneva Alta Chambers, 74, Topeka, who died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at a Topeka hospital.

She was born Sept. 14, 1926, in Topeka, to William D. and Lula McGee Joyce, and attended Highland Park High School. She worked for Colmery-O'Neil Veterans Administration Medical Center. She retired in 1973.

She was a member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church and was active in Church Women United. She was a former member of the Bertha Dandridge Art and Literary Club.

She married Robert W. Chambers in 1943 in Topeka. They divorced.

Survivors include three sons, Robert W. Chambers Jr., and Lynn G. Chambers, both in Topeka, and Leroy S. Chambers, Atlanta, Ga.; six daughters, Joyce L. Chambers, Sandra D. Chambers, S. Sheron Stewart, Cynthia K. Chambers, Ethel M. Chambers and Linda E. Chambers, all in Topeka; a sister, Amanda M. Sharp, Topeka; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery.

Mrs. Chambers will lie in state after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Highland Chapel Funeral Home, where relatives and friends will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
