Funeral services for Walter Edwin Diggs, 77, were held at 2;30 Monday afternoon at Southern Chapel in Lexington. Burial was in Acona Cemetery.
Officiating minister was the Reverend Curtis Holyfiled with Southern in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Diggs died Sunday morning in Holmes County Community Hospital following a stay of three weeks.
A native of Holmes County he was a prominent farmer, a veteran of World War I, a member of Black Hawk Masonic Lodge, and a member of Acona Methodist Church.
His parents were the late William Harris Diggs and Elizabeth Wall Diggs.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mary Minyard Diggs of Lexington; a son, Walter E. Diggs, Jr., of Tchula two daughters, Mrs. Carl Britt of Tupelo, and Mrs. H.R. McCannon of Marysville, Tennessee, two sisters Mrs. D.S. Bachan of Cleveland, and Mrs. S.L. Terry of Lexington and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Donald Parish, Kenneth Parrish, Harold Terry, Carlyle Williamson, E.L. Chisolm, Aubrey Pierce, Jr., Parker Britt, and J.A. Braswell.
