Civil War Union soldier. Served as a Private in Company I of the 18th Regiment Pennsylvania Cavalry. Also served in Company L, 8th Pennsylvania Cavalry. Enlisted and mustered in with the 18th Pennsylvania at Philadelphia on March 7, 1864. He gave his occupation as clerk. He was wounded by gunshot in action at St. Mary's Church, Virginia, on June 15, 1864. Discharged by a surgeon's certificate of disability on July 20, 1865. Also listed as Weikle.

After the war, he lived in Philadelphia. He applied for a pension on September 12, 1865, which was granted in September 1873.

Originally buried at Mechanics Vault in Philadelphia.
