Musician. Born in Anaheim, California, he was a singer, songwriter, guitarist, whom emerged in New York City's avant-garde club scene in the 1990's. Signed to Columbia Records, he released his first album "At Sin-é" (1993) followed by his full-band album, "Grace" (1994). With the success of the albums, he went on an extensive tour of Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Holland, Belgium and the U.S. until the late fall of 1995. In 1996, in addition to his Columbia Records releases Buckley also appeared as a guest artist on several other recordings to include the group "Jazz Passengers" album "In Love" and the Rebecca Moore songs "If You Please Me", "Outdoor Elevator" and "Needle Men". For much of the next year, he was doing solo performances and working on his next album in Memphis, Tennessee. While awaiting the arrival of his band from New York, he drowned during a spontaneous evening swim in the Wolf River, near Memphis, Tennessee. In 2003, his album "Grace" was ranked #303 on Rolling Stones Magazine's Greatest 500 albums of all time. His memorial marker is located overlooking the Sumatran Tigers at the Memphis Zoo.
