This nice old guy has mystery behind him. He changed his name and place of birth. Several searches have dug up the facts but I will leave the above information for his sake.
On August 12, 1959 he married Ruth M Prettyman in Pine City, MN. She passed away June 19, 1966 in Frederic, Polk County, WI
On March 1, 1967 he married Marion Aldredge in Pine City, MN. She passed away July 18, 1974 in the same city.
Alvin sold his property in Frederick and moved to Barron, WI.
He ended up being our neighbor. He came over one day and my husband was looking down on something he was working on. Seeing white shoes on someone, he looked up and saw an older man with very rugged features. We came to sort of adopt him, including him in our holiday celebrations, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas.
My husband stopped over to his little house, two houses away from ours, as often as possible. We took dinners over to him or invited him quite often. He'd treat us to his homemade apple pies with a crust recipe he took to the grave with him. It melted in your mouth and was the flakiest we'd ever seen. He was fun and lovable in spite of his grumpy looks. We really loved him.
One day my husband went to visit because we'd missed seeing him for a couple of days. and found he'd passed away in his house. We were very upset and still miss him.
NOTE: His birth name was actually Edmund Ucker but he changed it for some unknown reason.
He was born in Green CO., WI. His dad was August April 2, 1856 Germany -April 8, 1898; Mom was Auguste K (Gadow) Ucker 1864 Germany to 1954 Juda, Green, WI.
