The Star of Pascagoula

..Died - Nixon, At her residence in Biloxi, on the 28th of June, 1878, at 7 o'clock a.m. after a long and painful illness, Mrs. Adaline Capp Nixon, aged 79 years, 2 months and 5 days, Mrs. Nixon was born at Dover, New Hampshire, April 23, 1798, brought to New Orleans in 1808, where she married at the age of 16 years, John Nixon, Esq. at that time a prominent lawyer of that city. Herself and mother were members of the first benevolent association organized in the city and assisted in relieving and attending the wounded soldiers brought in from the battlefield of Chalmette on the 8th of January, 1815.

Mrs. Nixon removed from New Orleans to Biloxi in 1842, where she resided up to the day of her death. She was remarkable for her sound intelligence and energy, as well as her Christian and charitable disposition..
