SYLVIA MOSKOVITZ HOWARD, age 101, passed away December 18, 2009 in Gainesville Florida.
She was born in Izmail Bessarabia (Ukraine), immigrated to St. Paul with her family in 1912, and after her 1932 marriage to her late husband, Dr. Solomon Howard, resided in turn in Minneapolis, St. Louis Park and Golden Valley. She has lived in Gainesville for the past four years. She worked as a secretary and served as a Hennepin County probation official and vice-president of Hadassah. As beloved matriarch of her family, she had three children, Bruce, Evelyn, and Richard, two daughters-in-law, Rosanne and Rebecca, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was an avid reader, who was a founding member of a continuing book club of 67 years, and a natural comedienne, who acted in TV commercials in her nineties. She was also an ardent sportswoman, who enjoyed cross-country skiing and golf until recent years and playing bridge, hiking and swimming until her passing.
A memorial service in Minneapolis is pending. Arrangements are under the care of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 N. Main Street. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
