She was the widow of Alton William Roberge and had made her home in the Winslow area for 80 years.
Jane served during World War II as nurse and attained the rank of first lieutenant when she was honorably discharged from the service in 1946. She spent many years as an emergency room nurse at Mid-Maine Medical Center in Waterville Maine. She retired in 1980 to care for her ailing husband. Jane was an avid reader and well known for her wry sense of humor and acerbic wit. She is survived by her son, Bennett James Roberge (Suzanne) and daughter, Sara Jean Roberge Deely (Sean). Jane also leaves behind four beloved grandchildren, Christine, Lydia, Jenny and John.
Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at Veilleux Funeral Home in Waterville, Maine. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. (Morning Sentinel 12/20/2009)
