Funeral services for Wilbur Bryant, 94, were Jan. 7, 1997, at the Bader Funeral Home in Lusk with Dr. Lewis Terry of the First Baptist Church in Lusk officiating. Burial followed in the Harrison (Neb.) Cemetery. Memorials are to the Lusk-Niobrara Ambulance Service.

He died Jan.1, 1997, at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital in Lusk. He was born Aug. 31, 1902, in Boone, Iowa, to John and Candis Berg Bryant. As a small child, he moved with his family to Hat Creek, where he grew up.

He married Joyce Merriam March 5, 1924, in Lusk. In 1941 he and his family moved to Denver, where they resided until 1971. Upon retirement, they moved to Harrison, Neb., and lived there until she died in 1985. After her death, he moved to Lusk and resided in the Ranger Apartments until 1992, when his health forced him to move to the Niobrara Nursing Home.

He loved music and could play most musical instruments, but the fiddle was his first love and he still played after moving into the nursing home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brothers and his grandson, Jeff Bryant.

Survivors include children Jim Bryant and Wes Bryant, both of Sheridan, Colein Kregear of Arvada, Colo., and Betty Austin of Gillette; nephew and nieces Howell "Burr" and Winifred Bryant of Lusk, Iris Cline of Wilberton, Okla., Evelyn Guibalt of Hemet, Calif., Tiny Crofutt of Lusk, and Mildred Bryant of Lusk; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
