Richard E. Lawrence, age 78, died Thursday, December 17, 2009 in Clayton, New Mexico.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the Clayton Memorial Cemetery in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Jay Jones, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Clayton, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.
Richard E. Lawrence was born on July 27, 1931 at the family home North East of Clayton, New Mexico to Charles William Lawrence and Mollie Melvina (Dyson) Lawrence. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1951 and married Lavera Monroe Lawrence on February 2, 1951 in Clayton, New Mexico. They lived and worked in Amarillo, Texas for a few years before moving back to Clayton where he owned and operated Lawrence Electric for 25 years. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and by 4 sisters and 2 brothers; Clara Coble, Lillie Mae Harbour, Lethia Jones, by a sister and a brother that died in a house fire as children and by C. E. Lawrence on October 14, 2009

WIFE: Lavera Lawrence of Clayton, New Mexico.
4 SONS: Jimmy Lawrence and his wife Eva, Jack Lawrence and his wife Carroll and Billy Lawrence all of Clayton, New Mexico and Alan Lawrence and his wife Patty of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
1 DAUGHTER: Reba Cox and her husband David of Hereford, Texas.
