Private, Revolutionary War in Captain Miller's company and in Colonel Thomas Thomas' New York regiment, "participating in some of the famous battles around Lake Champlain". He was taken prisoner and "confined to a sugar house in New York City all of one winter where he suffered so intensely that he declared that while he might be killed in battle, taken prisoner NEVER".

Early settler of Bloomville, Delaware County, New York in 1803. Farmer.

He and his wife donated the land on which the Bloomville Methodist Episcopal Church now stands. He "gave so liberally to the [Methodist Episcopal] church that he was obliged to succumb to financial embarrassment".

It is said that his homestead in Kortright [Bloomville] was "burned out".

Relocated to Sanford, Broome County, New York by 1827.

In 1833, he was granted a pension of $20 per annum for his military service.

He "often visited his relatives in Bainbridge".

Relocated to Bainbridge, Chenango County, New York by 1835, and to Masonville, Delaware County, New York by 1840.

Moses Lyon married Diadama Banks, a daughter of John Banks and Deborah Newman, on 7 April 1786 in Westchester County, New York.

Together, they were the parents of 10 children:
