Tombstone lists William Nolen's birthday as 1859. The 1880 US federal Census lists his birthplace as Tennessee. He is listed as age 27. Married to Laura Nolen age 20, one child Francis T. Nolen whom I believe is my Grandmother Fannie Nolen Adams, age 1. Their home in 1880 was District 3, Overton, Tennessee. The Tennessee state Marriages, 1780-2002 states Wm.H. Nelson(misspelled, it should be Nolen), married Laura White on Jul 21, 1878 in Overton, Tennessee. Tennessee City Death records list the death of Laura L White (her madian name) Dec 18, 1887 from pneumonia. Could this year be wrong since she is listed in the 1880 census? The Tennessee State Marriages 1780-2002 lists WM 's marriage to Sarah Jane Hallors on Aug 19, 1888 in Overton, Tennesse. The 1900 U.S. Federal Census lists Arnt (misspelled) Nolen as head of house age 57, Sarah Nolen age 48, Fannie (my grandmother) age 20, Lucy C. Nolen age 18, and Alpha C.Nolen age 16. Theyare living in Civil District 9,Clay, Tennessee. The 1910 US Federal Census lists them in Civil District 4, Clay, Tennessee. William H. Nolen is 58, Sarah J Nolen is 53, Laura Nolen (Their daughter) is 16, Maggie M. Nolen 10( another daughter). I have a hand written letter from Laura Nolen Edens Tatum. she was the daughter of Wm & Sarah. She states that she & her husband moved to Oklahoma. Her parents Wm & Sarah sold their home in Tennessee & moved to Oklahoma to be with Laura in their old age. WM & Sarah are buried in the Coyle Cemetery close to Guthrie, Oklahoma.
