Born at home at 30 Ridge Road, Belmont, Massachusetts.
Attended public schools in Newton, Mass., Proctor Academy in Andover, NH, where he played football (jersey no. 22), and the Huntington School in Boston, MA.
Served in U.S. Air Force ( active duty 1952-1956 and reserves, 1956-60) and was stationed at Sampson AFB (NY), Keesler AFB (MS), Warner Robbins AFB (GA) and Beane Field, St. Lucia, BWI. He received an honorable discharge on July 10, 1960, which was recorded in Official Records Book 189, page 748, Manatee County, Florida, public records.
Attended Ringling School of Art and Manatee Jr. College in Florida and Phoenix College and Arizona State Univ. in AZ.
Married first Jane Marie (Bott) Hathaway, April 13, 1961, Episcopal Church of the Annunciation, Holmes Beach, Florida. Divorced in Phoenix, Arizona. They had two sons.

Married second Patricia (Dalton) Dabb, October 20, 1976, Las Vegas, Nevada. No issue. She survived him and died November 10, 2009, at their home in Farr West, Utah.
On February 2, 2005, a memorial service was held for George Benjamin Calvert, Jr, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Jensen Beach, FL. It had been delayed by turmoil caused by Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne.
George was a Direct Descendant of Capt Martin Weybright, III, of the Lancaster County Militia, Pennsylvania, during the Revolutionary War. He is on the Patriots' List of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
After the havoc of two September hurricanes had settled down a funeral mass for George was held at All Saints Episcopal Church conducted by the Rev. David Francoeur.
