Wilbur D. Martin, 70, of Cantril died on December 14, 2001 at Van Buren County Hospital. He was born on May 17, 1931 near Mount Pleasant to Tom and Mae (Carver) Martin. He graduated from Cantril High School with the Class of 1949 and served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Julia Boyd on August 16, 1952 in El Paso, Texas. A retired farmer, he was a member of Cantril Lions Club and Russell-Strait American Legion Post 483. He is survived by his wife, Julia, of the home; two sons, Clifford Martin and Donald Martin, both of Bloomfield; two daughters, Cheryl Martin of Des Moines and Marlene Hougland of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Dean Martin of Cantril; two half sisters, Virginia Beach and Ermalee Teel; ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two half brothers, Miles Martin and Walter Martin; and a granddaughter. Funeral services were held Monday at Cantril United Methodist Church with Rev. Raymond Doser officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
