Edwin Franklin Bacon was born in Oswego, New York, November 5,1845 and died at Anthony, Kansas, August 2, 1912, aged 66 years, 8 months and 28 days. He is a descendant of Daniel Bacon, who fought and went missing in the Battle of Long Island. At a very young age he, with his family, removed from New York and settled in Clarion, Illinois and later to Willow Creek, Lee county, Illinois.
On February 9, 1869 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Van Houten, of Creston, Illinois, to this union were born ten children, seven girls and three boys; four girls and one boy survive him, also a sister, Miss Della Bacon of Sterling, Kansas. A brother Warren, never married and died in the sanitariam at Norman, Oklahoma.
In the spring of 1877, Edwin F. Bacon removed to Kansas, residing there until 1894 when they moved to Manchester, Oklahoma, where they resided until a short time before his death and was taken to Anthony for treatment. In Dec 1900 his first wife died and on December 4, 1901, He was married to Mrs. Lena Helden of Morgan Park, Illinois. Interment was in Forest Park cemetery
