James E. Short, 67, former Kokomo resident, died at his home at Plymouth, Ind., at 4:40 p.m. Monday. He had been ill five years.
A son of Samuel and Matilda Short, the deceased was born June 4, 1889 in Kentucky. He moved from Kokomo to Plymouth 21 years ago.
He married Eva Stahl on September 23, 1906. She died in 1940 and March 15 (or 16), 1941 he married Sarah Young at Fort Wayne.
A retired business man, he was a member of the First Christian Church in Plymouth.
Surviving with the widow are four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Jackson and Mrs. Thomas McDonel of South Bend, Mrs. Peter Hodorowicz of Chicago, and Mrs. Ronald Marsh of Elkhart; three sons, Richard Short of Kokomo, Wilbur Short of Plymouth and Charles Short of San Pedro, Calif.
He leaves also three sisters, Mrs., Byron Boyd, Mrs. Pearl Hera and Mrs. George Behner, all of St. Petersburg, Fla. There are 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, also a stepdaughter, Mrs. Helen Trump of Fort Wayne.
The body is at Johnson & Sons's Funeral Home, Plymouth, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday by Rev. Wallace Jones.
It then will be brought to Kokomo to the Ellers Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday, with services to be at 2 p.m. thursday. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery.
