Miss Ethel Conwell, 63, died at 7:25 o'clock Wednesday night at the home of her sister, Mrs. Raymond Dean, a short distance northwest of the city on the Judson Road, with whom she had lived since becoming ill two and a half years ago. Her condition had been critical the last week.
The deceased was the daughter of William H. and Sarah J. Banta Conwell, her father long a prominent farmer of the county northwest of Kokomo. She was born May 31, 1884, and had spent her entire life in this community.
She was graduated from Kokomo High School, following which she taught at the old Fairview School in the vicinity of her home. She quit teaching to care for her aging mother, after whose passing she became office assistant to Dr. Elton R. Carke, remaining there fifteen years until she became ill. She was a member of the Kokomo Chapter of Eastern Star and attended the Main Street Christian Church.
Surviving with the sister are a brother, William Conwell, and three half-sisters, Misses Alice and Josephine Conwell and Mrs. May Banta, all of Kokomo and vicinity. the body is at the Jacobs Funeral Home where the funeral will be held at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning with the Rev. Jo M. Riley officiating. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at 7 'clock Thursday night.
