Raymond V. Magwire, of Grand Island, Nebraska departed this life and entered The Eternal Home on December 13, 2009, at home with his family by his side. Raymond was 89 years of age having been born on Nov. 9, 1920 in Tilden to Vester and Alma (Matzen) Magwire.

Raymond was raised and received his education in Tilden, graduating from Tilden (Nebraska) High School in 1938. From 1938-40, he farmed with his father south of Tilden, Nebraska. He worked for Lockheed Aircraft in California from 1940-41. He entered the United States Army Air Corp in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of a staff sergeant.

Ray was united in marriage to Margaret Cram on September 21, 1947, in Tilden, Nebraska. They have made Grand Island, Nebraska their home since 1958. Raymond worked for Super-Sweet Feeds 1958-70 and was a Turkey Grower from 1948-91.

Survivors are: his wife of 62 years, Margaret Magwire of Grand Island, Nebraska; son and daughter-law, Ken and LuAnn Magwire of Eagle River, Alaska; daughters and son-in-laws, Marla and Greg Mehring and Vicki and Randy Gard, all of Grand Island, Nebraska; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike Magwire of Tilden, Nebraska; Dean and Colette Magwire and Jack and Maxine Magwire, all of Lincoln, Nebraska; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Mike Qualset of Tilden, Nebraska; Margaret "Shug" Paulsen of O'Neill, Nebraska; Irene and Gene Martin of Niobrara, Nebraska and a host of friends and relatives..

Raymond was welcomed into Heavenly Home by: his parents, Vester and Alma Magwire; sisters, Florence Dittrich, Marian Lingenfelter and Euna Magwire.
